Too amusing to pass up

What happens when you have diet coke, mentos, a buddy, and way, way, way too much time on your hands? Apparently, you get this symphony.

This is hilarious! But can you imagine the sticky mess they had to clean up afterwards?

I'm planning to try the Mentos/Diet Coke thing here at my house - I live on an acre and a half, so it will be far away from my house and inhabited areas. :-)

hammer,
Not so sticky - remember, it is diet coke so no sugar, no sticky.

I'm saving this for a special occasion, a wedding, birthday, or something. Maybe I'll pull it out on a Saturday to amuse my daughter.

You know, I didn't even think about the no-sugar thing. I guess I assumed that the sugar substitutes behave enough like sugar that they would also have a sugar-like stickiness. I'm not generally a soda (or diet soda) consumer, so I can't say I've had a lot of chances to see it up-close and personal -- such as, say, cleaning up a big bottle of spilled diet soda, or something like that.

There are tons of variations on this Mentos/Diet Coke thing, too. I saw a video once (not sure where, now) where instead of putting the Mentos into the Diet Coke and letting it make a fountain, they used it to build up pressure and launch a Diet Coke rocket into the air -- way up into the air. Fun and crazy stuff.

There's also lots of equally entertaining (and potentially dangerous) stuff you can do with dry ice. :-)

Ah, dry ice. I wiled away many a lazy summer day as a child blowing up bottles with water and dry ice.

Good memories.
