New Post Label

In light of last week's highly controversial Gender Blogging post, I am creating a new post label. You see those down there, don't you. There's the word LABELS, followed by a colon and a bunch of words and phrases descriptive of the post. Well, here is a new one for you.

Things I should have run by Mrs. E first

As the label implies, it is something that I should have bounced off of my loving wife before posting, thus helping to avoid the potential necessity of hiding in a secure bunker from people I offended. Also, as the label implies, I did not first have her review the content before posting. Therefore, it is an example of my willfully seeking trouble.

For my inaugural post with this auspicious label, I present this picture. It is a picture of the bathroom sink where Mrs. E gets ready every morning. She has a habit of grabbing a drink in the morning out of the fridge, drinking less than half of it, and then forgetting to put it back in the fridge before heading out of the house with the kids. As it is hidden away in our bathroom, Mrs. E is not all that concerned about them piling up. This was actually one of the lowest points.

Mrs. E's bathroom sink
The astute eye will notice that there are 13 Caffeine Free Diet Coke bottles and 4 bottles of Aquafina sitting there. Mrs. E was unaware, until this moment, that I had taken this picture; but it was too perfect to pass up.

I allow Mrs. E these indulgences of messy areas. It's easier than fighting over it - there are much bigger issues in life than half-drunk cokes. It's hard for me, as my obsessive compulsive nature wants to pick the up and throw them away before she's even half done with the current drink.

Which are you? Do you have secret junk piles laying hidden from the common visitor's sight? Or, like me, do you have the kitchen cleaned and pots and pans washed and put away before you finish cooking and get dinner on the table?

Does Mrs. E know that it takes 1,000 years for each of those plastic bottles to degrade? :)

Seriously, I'm with her. I leave stuff piled up everywhere, but I know exactly where everything is. Just because my organization system is different doesn't mean it's inferior.

You're a dead man.

And I have no idea what you're talking about. And if I did, I wouldn't photograph it. And if I did photograph it, I'm not brave enough to post it.

My wife and I both prefer to keep things neat, but can both tolerate a certain amount of clutter without going nuts. So we generally tend to live in light to moderate piles of stuff, but neither one of us is comfortable if these get too far out of hand.

When visitors are due to come to our house, everything gets cleaned up and put away neatly. It's not that we want everyone to think we live a neat and clean existence, or are trying to fool anyone. We simply use the occasion as an excuse to go ahead and clean things up, and help keep the clutter build-up to a minimum.

That's impressive! I'm the only one that uses the bathroom where I get ready in the morning..and it's the only sink that doesn't have razor stubble all over it! Between my hubby and two teenage boys, the sink in the other bathroom is always disgusting, even the day after I clean it! And that's just the sink...

Hope Liler'E is feeling better!

Cach, those were Mrs. E's exact words to me when she first saw this, followed by something about revenge and it being sweet.

Cristy, Liler'E is doing much better. A little antibiotic and some Tylenol work wonders. Thanks for asking!

C-Ham, we like having visitors for just the same reasons - it gives us a reason to really clean up.

TiA, Mrs. E knows exactly where everything is, as well. Just don't make me try to find something of hers.

Are you still alive, because I'm concerned for your safety.

MB - ha!

I used to be a real clutter person. I've now tamed it to two areas - the bathroom counter and my closet. The rest of the house isn't perfectly tidy - I have 3 kids 5 and under...but it's pretty tidy.

Yeah, it's a wonder I've made it this long.
